Illustrated (delicious) history
I illustrated this recipe in Procreate - one day I’ll teach the process!
Inspired by my friend, Sharon, from Little River Kitchen, I’ve finally illustrated the legendary ANZAC Biscuit recipe!
As Sharon says, “These humble biscuits date back to World War I, baked with love by families and sent to ANZAC troops overseas. Made with pantry staples like oats, coconut, golden syrup, and flour, they were designed to last — and have stood the test of time as a treasured part of our national heritage.”
We both served in the Australian Army, so this recipe means more to us than just something sweet to bake - it’s a small way to remember, reflect, and honour the service and sacrifices of those who came before us.
Sharon also points out a few important things to keep in mind when baking or sharing Anzac Biscuits:
They must be referred to as "biscuits", not "cookies", to respect tradition and regulations around their name.
The recipe should stay true to its roots - significant alterations aren't encouraged, especially if you're calling them Anzac Biscuits.
Sharon’s recipe is in grams (she’s the expert cook!) and mine is in cups (a little more haphazard!).
Have a go at baking these delicious ANZACs and let me know how you go!
