Wednesday Wonder Workshop Series - Term 2 - 30 April and 7, 14 and 21 May 2025
Why Wednesday Wonders? Because I keep the weekly theme broad enough that I can share what is exciting and inspiring me. While there is a plan, you will ‘wonder’ what we’re going to be doing each week! A favourite series since 2016, I am excited to be bringing this workshop to life again.
Small class numbers mean that I can share my magic and knowledge with beginners and more experienced artists alike. I’ll share inspiration, art history and modern techniques that relate to a topic each week. There will be insightful projects about those topics, and the projects will create memorable art experiences. Your confidence will grow because it truly is ‘learning by doing’.
At the end of the four weeks you’ll have a unique and treasured ‘Wonder Journal’ as well as a collection of artworks that demonstrate the themes depending on your experience and interests.

This workshop is hosted on Wednesdays in 4 week blocks. There’s a Sunshiners Group - 9:30am -12:30pm and a Moonlighters Group - 5:30pm - 8:30pm.
The dates for Term 2 are 30 April and 7, 14 and 21 May 2025. Each week I’ll highlight a different ‘Master Artist’ and design a project based on their style, techniques or subject matter.
We will primarily be using acrylic paints for these sessions.
In terms of materials, you will need:
a set of acrylic paints (at a minumum - White, Black, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Pyrrole Red and Quinacridone Magenta - it’d also be lovely to have Phthalo Green and Burnt Sienna)
a set of brushes - these need not be expensive - I like the Mont Marte set that has two flats (#10 and #16) and two rounds (#6 and #12) plus am inch wide flat brush. Murrays has a similar set with more brushes.
an A4 pad of canvas paper (I like the Mont Marte canvas pads - if another brand, just make sure it’s actually canvas, not just imprinted paper)
a tear off, paper palette
3 x Prismacolor pencils - a red, a yellow and a blue
I will supply you with a sheet of Canson Mi-Teintes paper to make our Wonder Journals, a water bucket, a notepad and pencils, and any other materials we may try for particular projects.
If you are starting with no materials, you can expect to pay around $150-200 to set yourself up for this workshop series.
I also recommend Murray's Art and Framing if you need more items.
Our classes will be held in a large, comfortable space, at Volcanic Brewing, 1/161 James Street, Toowoomba.
